The Australian Liberal Students’ Federation has condemned a physical and disruptive protest against Sophie Mirabella his morning at the University of Melbourne.
University of Melbourne public policy fellow and former MP, Ms Mirabella was on campus to provide students with insights into her political experience.
In response the socialists on campus disrupted the lecture, yelled abusive chants, and had a physical altercation with Ms Mirabella.
“The socialists have complete disrespect for students and a disgusting willingness to use physical methods,” said Australian Liberal Students’ Federation spokesperson Matthew Lesh.
“These activities once again show how disconnected these protesters are from the regular student body.”
Police were called to remove socialists during the lecture, and Ms Mirabella was able to continue her lecture.
“These individuals have every right to protest in a peaceful manner, the fact that police had to be called and protesters removed shows a lack of willingness to partake in a civillised political debate,” Mr Lesh said.
